Plaque is a collection of millions of bacteria that cause an infection.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThere are two main stages of gum disease:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tGingivitis<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tPeriodontitis&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\t<strong>Gingivitis<\/strong><br \/>\n\tGingivitis is an early stage of gum disease. It affects only the gums surrounding the teeth. Gingivitis occurs when plaque builds up on teeth.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>Periodontitis<\/strong><br \/>\n\tPeriodontitis is an advanced gum disease that may occur if gingivitis is not treated. It spreads below the gums to damage the tissues and bone that support teeth.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"blu\">\n\t<strong>What are the Symptoms of Gum Disease?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>\n\tThese are some of the most common symptoms of Gingivitis. Gingivitis is usually not painful so you may not be aware that you have Gingivitis.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tBleeding gums<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tRed Gums<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tSwollen Gums<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tTender Gums<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\tAs Periodontisis is an advance gum disease, its symptoms are easier to see.
