Ever wonder what it would be like to wear a 17 carat diamond crown? Monika Radulovic knows! She was just crowned as this years Miss Universe Australia with a crown made of 631 perfectly cut Hearts On Fire diamonds!
Radulovic, 24, was in the top 10 last year and was a popular winner in the ballroom at the Sofitel On Collins on Friday.
Runner-up was Queenslander Madeleine Cowe, 22, and Chanel Stewart, 19, from New South Wales, coming third.
Though its a big one, this is not the first time she had secured any title. Monika was previously Miss Tourism Australia. She also holds an Honours Degree in Psychology. She was born in Bosnia. Her family fled the war in Bosnia and came to Australia as refugees from the Balkan war when she was four.
“I don’t know what I’m thinking, I just know that I’m so excited. I’m just excited to show the world and Australia how great we are. It’s been a while since we won Miss Universe, and I plan to hopefully win.” she said.
Question Answer Round is one of the most important round of this beauty peagent where the beauties get the chance to show some brain. Questions were asked from all sort of areas and issues to the final five contestants including governmental response to violence, extremism, feminism, bullying and social media.
Radulovic mesmerised the crowd with her answer to the question on violence and extremism.
“I hope in 50 years time we won’t be asking this question at Miss Universe Australia,”she said.
Radulovic showed that she has got both brains and beauty. She is of course overwhelmed after winning this great title. “It’s been an amazing ride and I look forward to the future,”
“My parents basically had their shirts on their backs, so they are definitely my inspirations and my heroes so it’s great to do them proud,” she said.
